Grow food security
Support greenhouse production, home gardens, nutrition learning and practical growing skills.
Hanan Green Acres turns Lions and Leo service into visible, practical action for food security, environmental learning, youth leadership and community dignity.
Lions and Leos can support a living classroom in the Namib Desert where children, families and community leaders learn skills that continue creating value long after a workshop ends.
The partnership connects service-minded clubs with measurable projects, regular updates and opportunities for direct participation.

Hanan Green Acres takes training beyond the farm. Programmes are adapted for the age, ability and circumstances of each group, combining encouragement with skills people can use at home, at school and in their neighbourhoods.
Hands-on instruction in soil preparation, composting, seedling care, water-wise irrigation, household gardens, nutrition and cooperative food production. Community volunteers learn how to pass these skills on to others.
Learners and teachers connect classroom subjects with practical agriculture. Garden activities strengthen environmental awareness, teamwork, responsibility and agricultural performance through first-hand experience.
Accessible garden activities encourage movement, purpose and social connection. Training supports small vegetable and herb gardens that can improve nutrition while allowing older residents to share valuable knowledge.
Safe, supervised sessions teach children how food is grown and cared for. Gardening builds confidence, patience, teamwork and hope while helping homes develop sustainable food-growing projects.
Support focuses on practical independence: starting affordable backyard gardens, reducing household food costs, improving nutrition and exploring small income opportunities from produce and value-added products.
Flexible, realistic training helps parents grow food with limited space, water, time and money. Participants receive guidance they can share with their children, strengthening both household resilience and family learning.
The principles of Lions International and the Leo programme are woven through every Hanan Green Acres activity. Each service project answers a humanitarian need while developing responsible, compassionate young leaders.
Grow nutritious food, strengthen household gardens, improve food knowledge and equip communities to become more self-reliant.
Give young people leadership roles, practical agricultural skills, volunteer experience and opportunities to serve across generations.
Teach water stewardship, climate-smart gardening, soil restoration, recycling, tree care and responsible use of natural resources.
